The Bride Goes Wild

A prim school teacher and writer (June Allyson) wins a contest to illustrate a children's book and finds more than she bargains for. The children's book writer (Van Johnson) is an alcoholic in a daze over the women he once loved who married a millionaire. In order to explain his behavior, he claims that he is the father of a rather disobedient young boy (Butch Jenkins)--played by a boy he and his publisher (John McGrath) borrow from the local orphanage.

The Bride Goes Wild is witty and heartwarming wrapped into a finely tuned package. Butch Jenkins steals many scenes in the film, but Allyson holds up tear for tear and tantrum for tantrum.
