SEE: Album Description
Miss Abbe Buck, ''Big Band Swing and Saloon Style'' is a throwback to those big band ''girl singers'' of the 1930's, 40's and 50's. Urged personally by Miss Rosemary Clooney (not a bad jazz singer in her own right!), Miss Buck has made a CD that is a warm tribute to the type of tune that also told a story. Each song on ''Big Band Swing`and Saloon Style'' is a reflection of those big band and radio show singers, from Bea Wain, Georgia Gibbs, Ella Fitzgerald and Doris Day. Whether singing with the cocktail piano playing of Henry Jones to the full orchestra that opens the album, Abbe Buck has a musical tale to tell.

About the Artist
Abbe Buck, a native Chicagoan, began to listen to the big bands of Woody Herman and Gene Krupa in Junior High. She began voice training at age 10 and singing professionally (and playing slide trombone) while in 9th grade. Miss Buck had subsequently worked with several big bands including the Marie Landis Big Band in Philadelphia.

Miss Buck revisited her love of singers and songs in her early 30's, during a chance meeting with the great Rosemary Clooney. She claims that she learned how to sing all over again by listening to the phrasing and ''storytelling'' on the later albums of Miss Clooney and Keely Smith. It was at the urging of Miss Clooney that Miss Buck record ''Big Band Swing and Saloon Style''.

Rosemary Clooney was one of my favorite singers, and she had such a wonderful voice. "White Christmas" has been one of my favorite movies since I was a very little girl, and it always brings warm memories to think of it. She will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.

Sorry to hear that Rosemary Clooney has passed away. I have been a fan for many years, read both her books and they were two of the best autobiographies I have read.

I saw Rosemary in concert at a Seniors' Expo in Halifax, N.S. a few years ago and loved it.

Sympathy to her family,

Lynda Bray, Dartmouth, N.S. Canada

Ms. Clooney's records were the first records I remember playing on my portable record player The records were from my parents' collection. As an adult, I bought tickets for my parents to see Rosemary Clooney's Christmas show in Milwaukee. They loved the live concert. They adore Rosemary Clooney. Whenever Ms. Clooney appeared in Milwaukee or Detroit, my parents went to her concerts. Our entire family will miss her. Her music is woven into the fabric our lives. At the first live concert my parents ever saw, Ms. Clooney's grandson, Theodore, was born. They loved her comments about his name, and were touched that Rosemary was so happy about the birth. Please accept our sympathy in the loss of Rosemary Clooney. We are sincerely sorry. .

I am so happy that you spent years at the Concord Label where you made such beautiful records. I am especially happy that you made those recordings with Cal Tjader.

I have been listening to the same song for the past week-Will You Still Be Mine.

Thanks forever.

Rosemary Clooney is like a distant relation somehow, and on television and on her records she was a sweet welcome presence in our home. I only wish there were more like her.

The evening breeze carress the trees tenderley.
If your worried and you can't sleep, just count your blessings instead of sheep.
Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters.
I could go on forever with some of these songs.
I was brought up in the forties and fifties with very fond memories of rosie,in other words, she was my pin up, and i have always had a very special
love and affection for her.
She will go down as one of the best.
I just now would like to offer my condolences to
Rosemary's family at this very sad time, but at the same time, celebrate her great gift.
R.I.P.

Joe

Miss Clooney, you were really the first female musical star I really came to appreciate from first time I saw "White Christmas." It was all about you and Bing when I was a little girl.

I once saw you in concert and I am so glad I had the chance, it was wonderful. I know I shall never have an experience like that again. I love to sing, due in part to your beautiful timing. I did not know you personally, but I feel as if I did. May you rest in peace and I send my heart out to your family and to everyone who was touched by your kindess.

As your friend Bob Hope would say, thanks for the memories. :)

Rosemary Clooney was blessed with a beautiful singing voice which will be missed in this world.
Her death today :-( is a moment in musical history which should be remembered. I will miss her voice. I wish I could convey my condolences personally to her family but this message will likely be the best I can do and that is OK.
I especially enjoyed her work on ER.
(not ignoring her other work of course)

She will be remembered.

The newsprogram (Dutch TV) just released the sad news Rosemary passed away.

Her famous song Come on-a My House.... is still in my memory - the first time I heard (early fifties in Holland) her singing is something I will not forget.

Dear Friends;

When I heard of Rosemary's passing this morning, I could not hold back the tears. I have been a fan for many years, and more so in the latest years, with her wonderful smooth Jazz sound.

I am so grateful that I was able to see Rosemary twice in person here in Toronto, that last time being in October 2000. It was one of the finest evenings of theatre in my life.

My condolences to Rosemary's husband and family, and her wonderful grandchildren. How lucky they are to say that Rosemary Clooney is my Grandmother.

God bless you all, with the knowledge that Rosemary Clooney's music will last forever.

Most Sincerely,
Sid Beaudoin

Like so many of us who grew up to the sound of Rosemary's smooth, soft, and silky voice, another star has left this world and taken her place in the heavens above. And I'll know for sure now that "Someone is watching over me".

Rosie was the best.

I never missed her television show or any movie that she was ever in. The sound of her speaking voice as well as her singing voice was magical. I am genuinely sad today at her passing and just played one of her old albums that was high fidelity. I truly think she did get better with age. She will always be a part of my most beautiful memories. My condolences to all of her family.

She was one of the 'greats' one. Clean songs and the music you could understand.

Her memory will live on. We are so sorry to lose her, but she is not suffering any longer with the illness her body suffered with.

Our prayers and love to her families.

One of the greatest female American vocalists of the past century; Thanks to Rosie for the great music and the courage to continue to share her talents through the tough times. My mother met Rosemary about 15 years ago in Detroit and raved about her graciousness and generosity to her fans. I myself had the oppurtunity to see her perform live twice. She was a talented, extraordinary, giving person; very in touch with her fans. Her voice will live on forever. My condolences to Rosemary's family and friends.

I would like to offer my condolences to Miss Clooney's family at her
passing.

Miss Clooney had a singing style of her own. She had a beautiful voice.
When you watch "White Christmas" her face sparkles and her voice is
beautiful.

I will always think of Miss Clooney as a "Legend" with a wondeful style
of singing that no other singer ever had.

God Rest Your Soul In Heaven Rosemary! Because you're with the Angels now.

Good Evening,

I was so sorry to read about Rosemary's demise.

She and I shared the same birthday (May 23rd).

Her rich, deep expressive singing voice was a joy to hear.

I was glad to see her make a come back after her breakdown. Her talent was meant to be shared with many.

She will be missed.

Flora Mae Bennett

Rosemary was a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. She will be missed incredibly.

Rosemary Clooney was a class act. She will be remembered for her music and
acting talent, but most of all should be remembered for being a wonderful
mother to her 5 children. Anyone who hasn't should read her book "This For
Remembrance."
