The Country Girl (1954)
An alcoholic entertainer has the chance to try to revive his career in a new show if he can keep it together and keep sober, but his inability to take responsibility for anything and frustrated wife undermine his potential for success.
Bernie Dodd (William Holden) convinces his partner that Frank Elgin (Bing Crosby) would be the ideal lead for his show. Elgin went through a string of failures as a man and a performer after his son was accidentally hit by a car. In order to pick himself up again from rock bottom, he must committ to the show and look to the future rather than hiding behind the past to perpetuate his shortcomings as a man, husband to country girl Georgie Elgin (Grace Kelly), and entertainer.
