If I Had My Way (1937)

After her father dies while working on the Golden Gate Bridge, a little girl is escorted to New York by her godfather to live with her father's family.

Buzz Blackwell (Bing Crosby) finds it hard to let go of his goddughter Patricia (Gloria Jean) and quite impossible after his savings is spent on an impossible venture by a friend (El Brendel). After being sent away by her uncle, the young girl finds comfort with her great uncle who just happens to live at the same address but on the other side of the city--the family has been astranged for several years. With little money, Buzz has to turn things around in order to allow Patricia to have a little security and ventures to start a club with an early 20th century theme.
