Balalaika (1939)

An aspiring Olympic skater tangles with the guests at her father's inn whom jeopardize her chances for winning the olympics.

Bob Harris (Don Ameche) is a reporting trying to cover a fire at the Grand Palace Hotel in a small town in Switzerland. He drops the story when he meets the daughter (Sonja Henie) of the man whom owns the inn he's staying at when he learns that the inn keeper once won the Olympics twenty-eight years before, but lost the title when it was learned he accepted a gift for lessons which the judges decided made him a professional. When Greta, the daughter, goes down the same path as her father with the help of some of the inn's other guests, Harris steps in to prevent history from repeating itself.
