A Child is Waiting (1963)

A woman looking for some value in life goes to an institution for children to try and help.

After becoming attached to a young boy at an institution, the woman (Judy Garland) has to decide whether or not she can handle using tough love in order to give him and his peers the foundation for independence. The man who runs the philosophical idealogy behind the institution (Burt Lancaster) attempts to guide her and eventually desires to have her stay on.
