The Clock (1945)

A lonely soldier meets a woman in Grand Central Station, they walk through the city, they talk, and before they part ways they decide to meet each other under the clock.

One of the most haunting films made during the war era as directed by Vincent Minnelli, The Clock stars Judy Garland as Alice Mayberry and Robert Walker as Corporal John Allen. It looks into the quick bonds made during the war, underscored by the heavy fist of time and lack of security--not knowing if Allen will come home, the film ends precariously in the hands of the viewer.
