Everybody Sing (1938)

A girl is expelled from school for singing jazz songs in music class and when sent home tries to repair her family.

Judy Bellaire (Judy Garland) is dubbed an ugly duckling by her mother after she is back home from being expelled from school, but she manages to bring fortune to her family with her extraordinary gift for song--except, she does so without a children's work permit and her parents' permission. Aided by the cook and the maid, Judy helps put the family back together both emotionally and financially.
