Girl Crazy

A playboy and son of an editor in New York (Rooney), is sent by his father to a small college in Cody--way out west, "where there hasn't been a woman since Abraham Lincoln."

On the eight mile road to Cody college, through the desert, the young playboy finds a broken down mail car and a girl named Ginger Graey (Judy Garland) who takes an instant disdain toward his devil may care attitude.

Girl Crazy is based loosely on a George and Ira Gershwin musical. Garland's role was debuted by Ginger Rogers--ever since the original production the character, which originally was named Molly, was renamed Ginger in honor of a mistake Rogers' co-star made on stage accidentally switching the names. Several of the songs were used in a revival of the production renamed and reconfigured with other Gershwin songs called Crazy for You.

Lines to Remember

Henry: After a respectable amount of time I think we should be married.
Ginger: Well, Henry this is so sudden!
Well, you know I like to put my cards on the table!
Ginger: <laughs> You could have left out the joker...You dont just ask a girl to marry you like your going to the hardware store to buy a coffee grinder!
Henry: Well, I just didn't want to get uhhh romantic.
Ginger: Well, what are you saving it for?!

Ginger: Oh, the strange things you see when you haven't got a gun!
