 Mrs. Thornway, when you ask your son about a part for me, will you tell him I'd rather not play Irene?
Mrs. Thornway:
 Oh, you won't?
Lily:
 Not if she gets killed in the first act
Mrs. Thornway:
 Let's see about that hat.
Lily:
 Will you tell him about me?
Mrs. Thornway:
 Yes.
Lily:
 And if he says no, will you make him give me a part. Even a little one -- maybe Irene.

 You're afraid of me.
John
 I'm what?
Lily:
 You are!
John
 That's one thing I didn't know 'til now.
Lily:
 There's a lot of things you don't know about yourself. One of them is why you're making me go back over the wall.
John:
 Well, That's one thing I do know, it's to teach you a lesson.
Lily:
