Carrying On Judy's Legacy:
Lorna Luft
by Jamie
Judy Garland didn't just leave us with music and film. She left us with a legacy. Thought-out the years this legacy has seen its times in the dark. Garland is often portrayed as a very tragic woman. This is not at all true. To her children: Liza Minnelli, Lorna and Joey Luft, Judy was a wonderful, caring and loving mother. The children knew they were loved.

Out of all of Garland's children, Lorna is the one who has gone public in correcting her mother's tarnished image. She wrote a book in 1998 entitled "Me and My Shadows" debunking rumors of her memories of Judy. That book was later turned into a miniseries that won 5 Emmy's in 2001.
Most recently Lorna has decided to bring her tribute to a new level, the stage. Lorna takes audiences on a journey. A journey of her mothers life through song, sharing stories and memories along the way. The show is powerful in every sense of the word. Lorna is backed by a 10 piece band led by her husband of 7 years, Colin Freeman. Lorna sings every Judy song you could think of. Ending with a medley of songs entitled "Born in a Trunk: How Grandma Got to Carnage Hall" . The medley begins with Lorna telling the audience about her children, Jesse and Vanessa. She saids that they are always asking her about "Grandma”. They're recorded voices come on and beg Lorna to tell the story of how Grandma got to Carnage Hall. In essence telling Garland's life story.

Disclaimer: I'm trusting Jamie on the posting of these pictures--if Lorna would like them down (except the one with Jamie of course), that will be done immediately.
