Why I love Judy
By Jamie
Everyone knows who she was. Everyone knows the character she played in her most famous role. But few people relize the impact she left on the world. As a young girl I loved to watch "The Wizard Of Oz". They'd play it at school all the time and show it on TV at least three times a year. I guess I get my love for Broadway came from my great grandma. She'd sing me songs from all the Broadway musicals. "Guys and Dolls," Chity Chity Bang Bang" and much more. I've always loved Broadway and it's wonderful stars. But there was something about Judy that made her stand out the most in my memory even at a young age. When my grandma died I stopped watching musials. Now, I'm rediscovering musicals. I've seen a lot of musicals but Judy's movie's are still my favorites (though I haven't seen them all )
When I read more about her personal life in her daughter Lorna's book I gained respect for her not only as a singer and actress but as a person. She had to endure so much and fought to keep life for her childen as normal as possiable. I had no idea she had to work that hard or MGM treated her so badly. She was a surviver and not as tragic as she is being made out today.
That's why I love Judy. She not only brought such life and depth to every character she played she was a wonderful person.
