One of her first movies was A Perfect Crime, when she was 12. In the 20's and 30's she was in a number of films including Twentieth Century, My Man Godfrey, and Swing High, Swing Low. Lombard was a unique mix of classic femininity and masculinity made her movies tasteful. Clark Gable once said after her death, "Women were easy to come by in Hollywood, but compaininship is something else. Carole was the best companion a man could ever have. When that plane went down, I lost the love of my life."
