I decided to make the new format standard yesterday. So here it is! You can still vote in the poll though to give me feedback on how you like it. I still want to know. I also changed a couple of pictures on the introduction page and I'm currently working on getting some kind of greeting card thing going, hoping that I'll have cards that work before Christmas - I can't wait to get through my last final tomorrow.

Guess what?! I got a laptop! Woo hoo! I set up my site here... ;) Very exciting! So, I am going to try to continue updating as much as I can. This is avoiding finals of course - only kidding, I wouldn't do that. :) So, I'm going to play with the look again and try to find a way to be more efficient and not put copyright dates in the images.

A few things...

Sorry there haven't been more updates, my computer is on the fritz and in trying to get everything straightened out, a family member of mine ::sigh:: changed the settings of my HTML editor and it takes so long to reload the whole site into it, I just haven't done it for lack of patience on my part. So, that's why I'm doing a few updates here, so I don't have to go through all of that! :) Does anyone know why there are lines running through my monitor? If you do, I'd love some help with fixing the problem! Thanks! ;)

Little plug for the new Alice Faye biography written by Jane Lenz Elder, Alice Faye: A Life Beyond The Silver Screen, it's very well researched and a lovely tribute to Miss Faye.

There's also a new Judy Garland CD out, came out sometime in the beginning of October, but it's really well done. I jumped up and down when I saw it at the store and soon found my energy was well used. ;) It's a compilation of tracks from the Capitol years with songs that have never been released before on CD or otherwise. And... it's called Classic Judy Garland - The Capitol Years: 1955 - 1965.

Hmm... I also didn't announce that if you have any artwork, write-ups, fan tributes... anything for a ReelJewel that you would like posted in the fan section, I'd be delighted to post it for you. There are some examples in the Judy Garland - Odds and Ends section.

I think I will have more time come December, I should have about a month off of school, so we can hope that I'll be able to spend a lot of that time updating (and I think I'll have a laptop *grins*). I also realized that I have to do something about the copyright date in my images, after changing everything to 2000-2002 and customizing all the images, I realized 2004 was near and I'll have to go through the process all over again with the main pages at least. The subpages hopefully won't be too difficult. ::Sigh:: Quel dommage! Ché pity!

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, complaints (chiefly about slow load time and if it matters), and comments - I shall graciously accept them and put them into consideration. I will also be adding sources to all my biographies, I've let my information slide for too long and always intended on backing everything up - just haven't sat down and done all the citing yet. This website has over 150 pages to it -- so you can understand that I sit down often and wonder what I got myself into! :) Everything will continue to be more complete and I hope to make this an informative and fun tool for all of you to learn or remember the stars of the 30's-50's.

Put Jeanette's page back up, which means I re-wrote her biography. To Nelson and Jeanette fans, I must say that I toned down both Nelson and Jeanette's biographies to side-step controversey -- if you have an opinion one way or the other, please respect my choice in doing so. There has been enough tearing down of fan groups of both due to the dilemma and I really don't want to contribute to any of that. I just wanted to show the world how important Nelson and Jeanette were and that they did have a big impact on American popular culture before the likes of Britney Spears and Ozzy Ozbourne came along. *backs slowly off soap box*

As you probably know, I have been updating -- working tirelessly (or at least trying to) in trying to get the format of all the pages the same. Today, I did add some more content to the Judy "Odds and Ends" page. There are more pictures and backgrounds in certain areas, so just keeping browsing and I'll keep working to get everything complete.

Again, I'm going to appologize, because I have had very little time to update these days. I'm heading over to England tomorrow and will not be back until the 27th of this month. I'll be checking my email from time to time, so I will try to get back to you if you have any questions or comments.

Some things to look for though:

The Rosemary Clooney Tribute... I really cannot express how much Rosie has meant to me and my development as a music lover.. She has always remained one of my top three female voices. If you have something you would like to say to remember the life and kindness of Rosemary Clooney or a story to tell. Please email me and I will continue posting until tomorrow morning, when I leave and post everything else when I get back. I will try to send a link to the entries to Nick Clooney (her brother).

Nelson and Jeanette Sunday Chats. I've been at this for four weeks now, it's really been great! Even though I will not be hosting the next few chats, please do participate! It's really lots of fans for all fans of both Nelson and Jeanette and we can be such a positive group as we have been.

Sorry I haven't made a whole lot of updates lately! Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to update more and then shortly after that I'm venturing over seas for a month! :) I know this is completely off topic and has nothing to do with promotion for Warner Brothers, just my own love for the film and the book series (you MUST read the books or see the movie if you haven't, they call it "'The Wizard of Oz' of our time" and I have to agree), but I just took a character personality test based on the Harry Potter cast and who did I come out to be??

You're honest, good-hearted and always with a good sense for right and wrong. Your friends have your full support and love you for being who you are. You don't want to fuss about everything and sometimes you loosen the "rules" a bit if you think it's really necessary.

So, now that I've gone completely off topic, remember to use the message boards before I change them again, which I'm considering doing. We'll see. And keep looking for updates, because there should be some coming soon!

<Drum Roll>

Yes, I have finally found message boards that are simple enough for all of us to use, but have a few fun little trinkets on them! <jumps up and down> The main issues for me where that a message board not require a user name and not be in bullet format. You know how hard these things are to find these days? Well, obviously, it took me four months to find one that suited me and it was right under my nose. Oh well :) Please enjoy the boards and use them often, it did take me a long time to find them -- and I'd be more than happy to see that they are in use.

There have been more changes made all about the site, such as every site having a message board. What else? Updated all the buddy icon pages, hotbars, and photo galleries and you'll find that every single reeljewel has these pages in the updated format with a few images added.

Well, my poll for the next "Reeljewel" has been down for a week now. GRR...apparently pollnow.com went under. So, by more than popular demand, I'll officially declare Charlotte Greenwood the next edition to the family of "ReelJewels" more than happily :) Like Una Merkel, it might be a while -- I'm actually going to put Una in the "Honorary Reeljewels" section, and have a smaller tribute to one star every three months or something like that. This site is getting too big for my britches I'm afraid and I'm doing my best to keep up with it, but I've got over 200 pages to update into the new format. Can you believe it? I would really like to add more useful content, like fuller radio show logs among other things (IE: Broadway, live performances, television). If anyone has any information in these departments, that could be a lot of help to me.

Ooh, by the way, if you've tried to sign the guest book, it is still a little out of whack and any of the message boards that are still linked, definitely do not work ::Sigh:: The old guest book is still linked to some pages. The host keeps saying it has to go down forever and then suddenly it will pop back up again.

I've actually added a few things since my last update. First of all, I'm completely remodeling the site. As a perfectionist -- the old format just seemed to be too simple since my skill base is growing. Like the look? I know it takes a longer time to load, but for some reason I think the wait is worth it. It's going to take me a while to finish this project. I'll probably get a lot done next week, because I have spring break! Yay!

I got a new guest book courtesy of Bert Szoghy. Thank you SOOOOO much Bert! You're absolutely wonderful! :) My cards are having some down time, because I was silly and played around with the code too much, so I might have to start from scratch again -- actually, chances are I will.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled! There will probably be more pictures added and more updates to the newer "Reeljewels."

Since the poll for the last 'ReelJewels' ended today (Una Merkel being the winner) I started another poll that will end on April 6, 2002. Hopefully I'll have the other sites done by then, at least I'd hope so! So, you gotta get out and vote! Thanks to everyone who voted in the last poll!

It might take me a little longer to get Una Merkel's page done, we'll see -- I'm still doing some work on the others, but do vote in the next poll :o) I might select another one myself in the time elapsed, most likely from the list of choices. Haven't decided yet ;) There has not been anything really substantial added since my last update, but keep on the look-out!
